I think you should go with the Oppenbie double feature. Think of it as salty and sweet. I'd end on the pink note. (But I have zero intention of going to a movie theatre ever again. If Bowie couldn't drag me to a cinemaplex, nothing will.) And I'm still working on the WaPo piece on Chris and Maria. When a friend of mine was going through cancer, I acted on every inkling to call her, and caught her at some of her lowest points. I agree with you, Chris; when someone crosses our minds, pick up the phone. ❤️ xo
I struggle with it too. I always have to resist the thought of thinking that I'm bugging them, when in fact, I know they appreciate it.
Regarding the movies, I almost didn't make it through Avatar. The length and the colors and the intensity (and the 3D). I am 95% sure Barbenheimer (or Oppenbie) would be the end of me.
1) I'm loving the impassioned Barbenheimer discussions in the comments. As a devoted member of Team Absurdity, I'm all about the double feature.
2) This is everything: "If you haven’t texted a friend who’s been on your mind because you don’t quite know what to say, just do it. All you have to do is say hi and go from there. Ultimately, it’s not the message that matters; it’s the effort." There is no bigger boost than the moral support of a friend, even when that friend has zero clue how best to support you.
Agreed on the Barbie movie being more than you see on the surface....pun intended! In the trailer, in a dance party scene, she says to the other Barbies ‘You guys ever think about dying?’ - that was my ‘you had me at hello’ moment. Plus I just love Margot Robbie. I’ll be traveling or else I’d sign up for the the Oppenbie double. Might replicate it at home when it all comes out on Vudu. Thanks Chris for a great roundup. And never be afraid to talk about the tough stuff in your work, even cancer.
Chris! I’ve been reading that Barbie movie is much more than a doll, that apparently it is very nuanced and has many layers. I would trust Greta Gerwig not to create a shallow movie. I’m planning to see it!
Interesting. Now I'm intrigued! (Didn't mean to make it sound like Barbie had no redeeming value. Just thinking of it in terms of the darkness/complexity of Oppenheimer.)

There's a reason our TVs are big and letterboxed. xo
and has a pause button!
Gawd bless the pause button! xo

I could get through it if I was able to pause to take a nap. Otherwise I'm sure that I'd get a migraine.

I’ll update you with a full review when I watch the movie. :)
