Chris, I so appreciate your highlighting my essay. It was such a meaningful one to write...and yes, I *do* insist that your editing chops helped make it that much better. 🤗
“Lots of inputs and a strong filter” and “hug your people” are both wildly good pieces of advice.
Awhile back, I realized that if I wasn’t enjoying a book after the first handful of pages, I could simply...put it down! Even if I’d (gasp!) already purchased it. I had been viewing reading as an obligation, and it was a relief to see it instead as a source of joy.
Your advice on filtering out boring (or otherwise useless) content is dead on. That's what I think social media is, for the most part. I'm not a fan.
I can't remember specifically what I've stopped reading lately but I do regularly unsubscribe to newsletters after realizing they aren't what I thought they'd be.
Ah yes, social media is definitely a major source of useless fluff!
I am also subscribed to too many newsletters. I feel bad unsubscribing but there's only so many I can read before I get overwhelmed! I wish I could send a note back and be like "it's not you, it's me."
LOL @ "It's not you, it's me!" I feel guilty too but to be honest, the only way to know if you're going to like it is to subscribe. Then, if it doesn't fulfill you in some way you must unsub! It's not ideal but hopefully they don't have the "Notify me when someone unsubscribes" button checked off!
Another great post - you always give me pause to stop and think about how I approach things and how else I could look at them. Thank you.
And 999? AWESOME! 🥳
Thanks Rebecca! Now it's 998 but I'll get there eventually 😂
It's always the way, isn't it?! 🤣
It happened under the cover of darkness but I made it! And stayed there lol
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! 🥳

Thanks Maddie! This newsletter is a lot easier to write with great content to share!
For someone with plus-or-minus 1k subscribers, you’re too modest! 🥳
