Very good, Christ. Thanks for re-posting it. I especially like that you define failure as, "merely something not working out the way we had hoped." That makes failure feel "normal", as so much in life doesn't work out like we hope.

Thank you for sharing your story and insights. I love the key idea that failure does not mean you have failed. I think that when we become indifferent to both failures and successes, we can do our best and feel fulfilled. But we are not wired for that. It takes a very deliberate effort to cultivate this indifference.
