Wow to the CS Lewis, not dissimilar to what I've been saying this week, but so much better. I am shortening in my head to "bathe the children" : ) and keep going.
I love all of this. My favourite part is about the suffering. I broke my foot just before Christmas day and although it’s been frustrating and will be even more tricky once husband and sons are back to work, I’m trying to focus on what I can do rather than what I can’t (temporarily) do. Trying to be more patient and compassionate towards myself. Maybe that’s one way to be suffering well? As well as the fireman, “what can I do right now” that’s really helpful.
So sorry to hear about your foot, Tracey! I hope you have a speedy recovery. And yes - I think self-compassion is a great way to "suffer well". It doesn't make it fun, but it also keeps you from giving yourself an unnecessary hard time.
"You are a future of multifarious possibility. You are another self at a point in future time looking back in gratitude that this lost and former you held on." is definitely going in the journal tonight <3
I love thinking about Jorge Borges-esque non-linear timelines. This isn't explicitly that, but it lets me imagine how my future self might reach back to lead my current self forward.
I found it right after this! I was smart when I moved home apparently and put it with my other books, knowing it's one I would want to refer back to 😊 My bins are all up very high in the garage so that would have taken some doing and parental assistance 😂

Glad it could help! One of my favorite passages I've come across.

Thank you Chris! 😊
Thanks, Chris. You’ve made it possible for me to get out of bed and carry on this morning, no small task lately!
Thanks Cherie! Glad they were able to help :)
Great way to come back after a break Chris!
Thanks John!

Glad you liked it! When I read it, I scrapped my scheduled post and decided to write this one. It was a quotes kind of week.
Such good quotes and you reminded me it’s time to bust out The Comfort Book. Now if I can just find it in my storage bins 😂
Your future self will appreciate your bin search 😂

Like Maya, I love the CS Lewis quote. It seems very apt for our current times.
Thanks Peter! It's a great one.
how you love, how you give, and how you suffer... yes, yes, and YES
Agreed!
Very empowering and useful read, I followed you, please keep up the good work!
